New York Knicks 1970, 73 Championship Basketball Court Presentation Shadowbox Display
This is an awesome limited edition shadowbox display from the New York Knicks and the Madison Square Garden Collection that features a rare piece of the New York Knickerbockers basketball court on which they won their two World Championship titles at Madison Square Garden in 1970 and 1973. The 9 X 11 piece of this historic wooden flooring with a presentation plaque attached which reads, "New York Knickerbockers Championship Court Gallery, 1967 of 2500," is the key piece in this majestic 25 X 37 display created using graphic artifacts commemorating both championships together with actual yearbooks from the World Champion 1970-71 and 1973-74 Knicks. Among the artifacts are pictures of both teams, a facsimile stat card from the deciding game played 5/8/70 in which the Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 113-99 to capture their first NBA title and a picture of 1970 MVP, Willis Reed. The injured Willis Reed inspired them to a memorable victory in the 7th Game when he limped onto the court right before the start of the game and scored the game's first two baskets before sitting out the rest of the game. The entire starting line-up for the 1969-70 Knicks had their jerseys retired by the team including Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley, and Dick Barnett. Winning their second title in 1973 against the Lakers again, the Knicks were aided by the addition of Jerry Lucas and Earl "The Pearl" Monroe to their roster. This floor piece is a rare artifact touched by the shoes, ball and even the hands of these legendary Knicks and other NBA greats of this era. Framed in plexiglass with graphics and lettering depicting the "Daily News" newspaper headlines proclaiming both Knicks Championships.
