A dejected Willis Reed limps off the basketball court accompanied by his trainer in the 5th Game of the 1970 NBA Championship Series between the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers in this 8 x 10 black & white original wire photograph. This moment began one of the most fabled events in NBA history. The Knicks lost Game 6 and entered the Final Game 7 with the Series tied not knowing whether or not their Captain, Reed, would come out of the locker to begin the game. The crowd went wild when he did and scored the game's first two baskets, which were his only points during the game but were inspiring enough to lead the Knicks to their Championship victory. The UPI photo credit and photo description appear on the verso. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
