Vintage 1955 Music Circus Summer Jazz Festival Broadside Poster (17 x 5.5)

This original St. John Terrell’s Music Circus broadside poster dates back to the “Summer Jazz Festival” of 1955, in Lambertville, New Jersey. The feature performers were Paul Whiteman (The King of Jazz) conducting George Gershwin and Louis Armstrong and his All-stars. The popular summer theatre, known as the Tent on Music Mountain was built in a circus style in-the-round format in 1949. The informal format for theatre and music was quickly copied around the United States. Other jazz performers on this poster include Dave Brubeck, Maynard Ferguson and Buddy Hackett. In addition to Jazz, Broadway musicals featured here include “The World of Suzzie Wong”, “South Pacific” and “West Side Story”. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
