President Franklin D. Roosevelt & Eleanor Roosevelt Signed 1940 Vehicle Registrations

American citizen’s may take comfort in knowing that even the President of the United States is required to register his car albeit without the same motor vehicle lines experienced by most drivers. Offered is a unique pair of 1940 New York State vehicle registration documents signed either by President Franklin Roosevelt or First Lady, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt. FDR’s registration is made out for his 1936 Ford Phaeton while Eleanor’s is made out for her 1937 G.M.C. Suburban. Each 6 X 4 document is boldly signed by the respective First Family registrant, in black fountain pen. While FDR went to great strides to hide a mobility disability attributed to his polio infliction at a young age his Ford Phaeton was equipped with special hand controls that allowed him to drive. Interestingly New York was the first state to require automobiles to have license plates in 1901, the earliest of which were handmade by the vehicle owner with their initials. These historical documents are accompanied by an original 8 X 10 black and white photograph from 1933 of the President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor seated in an official Presidential vehicle after visiting the White House. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
