"Pistol" Pete Maravich is captured in mid-dribble during an NCAA basketball game for LSU (Louisiana State University) in this captivating 8 X 10 black and white original wire photograph that freezes the action of this 6' 5" star. During his college career (1966-1970), Maravich was named 1970 Sporting News College Player of the Year and averaged more than 44 points per game, an NCAA high. He scored a career high 69 points vs. Alabama in 1970. "Pistol Pete" debuted in his pro career with the Atlanta Hawks and later played with the New Orleans Jazz and Boston Celtics. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987, Maravich tragically died a year later while playing a game of basketball at a gym. In 1996 he was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.
