Orville and Wilbur Wright Original Photograph

Orville and Wilbur Wright are captured here in a pensive moment at an airfield in this 3.5 x 5 original sepia photograph. The "Wright Brothers" are the inventors of the first successfully controlled airplane. On the historic day of December 17, 1903, Orville made the world's first flight in a powered, heavier-than-air machine. At an airfield near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Orville piloted their airplane 120 feet, lasting 12 seconds. This feat is considered to be one of the most important and influential accomplishments of the 20th Century.  In 1929, Orville received the first Guggenheim Award and was elected posthumously to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans. The photograph has been mounted to a 5.5 x 8 ecru-colored card with the Culver Pictures credit stamped on the verso. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
