Original NASA Wire Photograph

This 8 x 10 NASA original wire photograph featuring a pair of moon shoes was used in the dissemination of information to the public regarding the Apollo 11 mission, and man's first walk on the moon. The UPI photo is dated June 21, 1969, just weeks before the liftoff date and features moons shoes that would be worn by the astronauts who would walk on the moon's surface, with the right shoe in the "Lunar Module foot pad", demonstarting how the astronauts would carefully scrape their boots in the foot pad after leaving the moon so as to keep the space ship clean, and free from contamination. The wire story, which is titled, "Will The Moon Contaminate Us? (Second of Eleven)" is attached and the UPI credit is stamped on the verso. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
