Original 1939 World Series Broadside Box Scorecard Yankees vs. Reds October 4, 1939

This "broadside" is a rare and possibly one-of-a-kind Official Baseball Scorecard printed for the box score of Game 1 of the 1939 World Series played between the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds at Yankee Stadium on October 4th 1939. The Yankees swept the Reds in four games to win their eighth World Championship title and their fourth consecutive World Series. This was the first sweep in World Series history. This 18 X 12 display is printed with an abundance of local advertising from “4 Mile Tavern” in Madison Wisconsin, where it was displayed. Detailed box score information is provided listing the line-up for the game including the young Yankees centerfield sensation Joe DiMaggio who hit a career high 381 for the season.
