Original 1911 Photo of the Connecticut Hospital for the Insane Baseball Club (16 X 13)

This incredible "team" picture of the baseball club from the Connecticut Hospital of the Insane is a 16 x 13 original sepia photograph, taken circa 1911. The photograph has been inscribed July 10, 1911 with the photographer’s name and New York City address, in white lettering. A fascinating piece of "baseball" history, the "players" are seen here, some holding baseball gloves, and almost all with their arms crossed in front of them and not making eye contact with the camera. The photograph is accompanied by two original postcards from the facility, the first one is of Skew Hall, the first building of the hospital, built in 1867, and the second one, showing another sports team holding the sign "Main Cottage." The Hospital of the Insane was one of the first four buildings erected for what is now the Connecticut Valley Hospital complex, and it was the largest of its kind in the country at that time. The site, listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, still operates as a Psychiatric Care Facility. Framed 23 X 20. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
