Nat Holman (aka. Mr. Basketball) Signed Letter

Nat Holman, known as "Mr. Basketball" signed this fabulous letter typewritten on City College stationery, in black fountain pen. Dated February 20, 1950, Holman wrote this letter at the peak of his College coaching career at the City College of New York when he led CCNY to both the NIT and NCAA championships, the only team in history to accomplish this feat. In the letter Holman gives shooting advice and reminisces about his career as a professional basketball player with the world famous Original Celtics, where he was one of basketball's most accurate shooters and deft ball handlers, leading them to a National Title in 1921. The Original Celtics were enshrined as a team into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1959 with Holman admitted as a player in 1964. Much to the chagrin of Holman, in 1951, the same year that he was named Coach of the Year by "Sport" Magazine, several CCNY players were implicated in the college point-fixing scandal that involved numerous players and seven colleges from 1947-50.
