Muhammad Ali & Joe Frazier LIFE Photo By Frank Sinatra & Inscribed by Tony Bennett

Not even Frank Sinatra had easy access to the Muhammad Ali - Joe Frazier "Fight of the Century." In order to sit ringside Sinatra made an offer to LIFE Magazine which they accepted, to take photographs of the fight. As a result Sinatra sat ringside on March 8th 1971, as the photographer for LIFE Magazine, to accompany a story by the controversial and Pulitzer Prize winning author Norman Mailer. One of his photographs made the cover of LIFE and four others were published inside. This is an original, first-generation photo, shot by Sinatra at ringside depicting action in the ring, showing a masterful Ali pummeling Frazier. Overall the matted photo measures 16x20". Cartouche on matting reads "Photo by Frank Sinatra." Adding further value to this unique image taken by arguably our greatest entertainer from the most anticipated boxing championship ever, is the signed inscription on the mat made out to a prominent New York family by another legendary performer, “To the Forst’s Best Wishes, Tony Bennett.” Speaking of Bennett, Sinatra was once quoted “...my friend…the best set of pipes in the music business…” As for the “Fight of the Century,” it went 15 fierce rounds in which Frazier defeated Ali by points, offering Ali's first defeat as a professional boxer. The photograph is accompanied by an original issue of LIFE Magazine with one of Sinatra’s photographs on the cover. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
