Twain writes, “with best wishes, Truly Yours, Mark Twain.” Twain who was born Samuel Clemens adopted Twain as his pen name, from a term associated with the measurement of water depth on riverboats like those he spent so much time traveling, piloting and writing about along the Mississippi.
