Lester Maddox Signed & Inscribed Photograph

The infamous Lester Maddox has signed and inscribed this 8 x 10 color photograph, "To Arthur O. Shackman with all good wishes, Lester Maddox, 4/74" in black sharpie pen. Maddox was governor of Georgia from 1967 to 1971 and later a Presidential candidate. An admitted staunch segregationist, when he was in office Maddox curiously ended up appointing more blacks to state government office than any of his predecessors. He ran in the 1976 U.S. race for President as the nominee of the American Independent Party. The controversial candidate received only 170,000 votes in the election, less that 1 percent of the vote. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
