John Campo Horse Racing Trainer of the Year Award (1970)
This beautiful original horse racing trophy awarded and engraved to John Campo is affixed with a plaque specially engraved to “John Campo Outstanding Trainer of 1970-Presented by the New York Turf Writers Association.” John Campo was a champion race horse trainer and winner of many major races. He is best known for his quest in 1981 for the “Triple Crown” in which he trained Pleasant Colony to victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes only to fall short at the Belmont Stakes with a third place finish. The trophy presented to John Campo has a 15” base with a height of 14” with a horse and jockey adorning the top. Built inside the trophy is a beautiful glass clock, barometer and thermometer which would look great on any mantle or office desk. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
