In what is decidedly one of the most interesting photographs of World Heavyweight Champion (1935-37), James J. Braddock that we have seen, he is pictured being kissed by Joe DiMaggio in this original 6.5 X 8.5 black and white wire photograph taken after his victory over Tommy Farr (Heavyweight Champion of the British Isles) at Madison Square garden on January 21, 1938. This was Braddock’s last professional fight . News print captions and press stamps appear on the verso including the reference to this “Old Latin custom,” bestowed by the Yankees “Hard-Hitting Outfielder.” James Braddock, also known and popularized by the film of the same name, the "Cinderella Man," had won the Heavyweight Title in 1935 in a fight against Max Baer in what is considered one of the biggest upsets in ring history. In this 1937 title defense Louis was briefly knocked down in the 1st round but recovered to take command of the fight; knocking out Braddock in the 8th round. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
