International Mercantile Marine (RMS Titanic) Company Stock Certificate

Formed in 1902 by the financial titan J. Pierpont Morgan, this is an original stock certificate for the International Mercantile Marine Company (IMMC) for 100 shares of their 6% Cumulative Preferred Capital Stock. From 1902 until 1927 IMMC was the parent company of the British shipping company Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, better known as the White Star Line most famous for their Olympic class ocean liner, the ill-fated RMS Titanic which sank on its maiden voyage in 1912. The attractive certificate measures 12 X 8 and includes a vignette of an ocean liner dominating a harbor scene. The back of the certificate is stamped and dated January 1920 and is signed and notated for transfer assignment of the 100 shares. Interestingly J. P. Morgan passed away within a year after the sinking of the Titanic. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
