Horse Jockey Trotters License Circa 19th Century

Among the earliest records of harness racing are accounts of the Chariot races in the Olympic Games of the 7th Century BC. Harness racing quickly developed to become a great spectator sport throughout history with rules adopted to administer record keeping of stables, horses and drivers. In North American virtually all Standardbred race horses traced from the breed line of Hambletonian 10 (1849-1876). Offered here is a great artifact from this very era in American harness racing history, a 19th Century trotter horse jockey license. Dated 1898, this Rider’s and Driver’s License issued under the auspices of The National Trotting Association displays an actual photograph of the driver tipped onto the front and details his riding colors “Black & White” on verso. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
