Dr. Martin Luther King, civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner cheerfully looks back at the camera looks in this awesome 3.5 X 3.5 candid color snapshot photograph that is dated January 1965; the same date that he spoke at a Nobel Peace Prize recognition dinner held in his honor in Atlanta. Just a few years later, in 1968, King was assassinated at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, one day after giving his thrilling and eerily prophetic speech "I've Been to the Mountain Top." One of the most widely revered figures in American history and certainly one of the nation's most beloved heroes, King was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1977) and the congressional Gold Medal (2004). Personal photographs such as this are exceedingly rare. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
