Dr. Jane Goodall Signed 1993 Cincinnati Zoo Appearance Broadside

World renowned primatologist, Jane Goodall has signed this graphic broadside that advertises her 1993 appearance at the University of Cincinnati under the sponsorship of the University and the Cincinnati Zoo to discuss “The Chimpanzees of Gombe.” The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is the second oldest zoo in the United States dating to 1875. The zoo is one of only a dozen in North America to house and breed pygmy chimpanzees, an endangered species of the great apes. Tragically, the Cincinnati Zoo is also where the17-year-old silverback gorilla named “Harambe,” was fatally shot by zoo officials after a three year-old boy slipped into Harambe’s enclosure. That incident has stirred great controversy and emotion concerning the endangered status and care of gorillas and monkeys and the parental care of children.
