Onlookers from the beach watch a Poseidon rocket take off from Cape Kennedy, in this 8 x 10 black and white original wire photograph. The wire photograph was taken on July 9th, 1969, one week before Apollo 11’s blastoff for the moon. The UPI wire story, dated July 9th 1969, appears on the front with the UPI photo credit stamped on the verso. Thousands of tourists gathered on the beaches leading up to the Apollo 11 lift off on July 16th, 1969. It was estimated that a million people would come to watch as Apollo 11 went into orbit. Early arrivals on the beaches around Cape Kennedy got to witness this rocket launch, with full thrust and sheer power. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
