Bobby Jones Vintage Signed Card, Circa 1935
Golfing legend Bobby Jones has penned his signature “Robert T. Jones,” in bold black fountain pen on this blue 3 X 5 index card that has been encapsulated in a special lucite holder, authenticated and graded “Mint 9” by PSA/DNA, a major certification service in the sports collecting field. This is one of the finest autographs of this famous golfer that we have ever seen. Details typed on the card and a small black and white cut-out portrait of him tipped onto it, identifies Bobby Jones and the place and date of his signing, his hometown “Atlanta Ga.,” “June 1935.” The back of the card is decorated with two U.S. postal stamps issued since 1980 in his honor by the United States post office. Bobby Jones is considered by most historians to be among the greatest golfers of all time. Jones made history in 1930 when he accomplished what many felt impossible, winning all four majors the same year (the U.S. and British Opens and their respective Amateur Championship events). Jones impact on golf has been felt throughout the world having designed the Augusta National Golf Club and co-founded The Masters tournament held each year since its’ inception at Augusta.
