Golfing great Bobby Jones is pictured here holding his trophy upon winning The 1930 Amateur Championship (Old Course at St Andrews, Scotland) in this 6 X 8 original black and white wire photograph. Crop marks surrounding Jones face on the front of the photograph confirm its’ use by the press in publishing Jones portrait after his feat. This was the first of Jones four Major Championships that year to accomplish what was then considered the “all-time achievement in sports history,” as he went on to win The Open Championship in Britain, the U.S. Open and the U.S. Amateur Championship tournaments to capture the historic “Grand Slam” in golf; a feat not repeated since.
