1981 Cal Ripken "Pre-Rookie" Baltimore Orioles Full Tickets (Group of 4)

A group of four full 1981 Baltimore Oriole tickets for games played at Memorial Stadium, Baltimore. Three are dated September 1 for a game played against the Seattle Mariners and the fourth ticket for their game played against the Oakland A’s. 1981 was a strike shortened season throughout major league baseball, with baseball commencing again on August 10 when Cal Ripken, Jr. made his major league debut with the Orioles, entering the game in the 12th inning as a pinch-runner and scoring following an Oriole hit to win the game. Thus began the legendary career of Cal Ripken, Jr. who would only play in 23 games in 1981 but beginning on May 30,1982 would begin a major league record of 2,632 consecutive games played, surpassing Lou Gehrig’s seemingly unbreakable record for consecutive games played. These “pre-rookie” Ripken tickets are a nice archive from the opening chapter of his career. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
