1968 Mickey Mantle New York Yankees Road Flannel Jersey

This is a 1968 New York Yankees Mickey Mantle road flannel jersey that appears to have light game use that is accompanied by a copy of a letter of authenticity from a recognized uniform expert describing the jersey. The Wilson manufacturers tag with size “42,” and the appropriate Set tag bearing “1968 Set 1,” are sewn on the left front tail of the jersey. Original blue felt letters that spell the name “New York,” are sewn across the front of the jersey, with Mantle’s unmistakable uniform number “7” sewn on back. The only distinction noted between this and other Mickey Mantle game worn jerseys of the era is the appearance of the “Mantle” name which is chain stitched on a gray felt patch sewn on the inside back collar. As the letter points out, since all other attributes match what was worn by Mantle at this time; this was possibly an extra emergency jersey made for Mickey Mantle. This is truly a fabulous Mickey Mantle memorabilia item that were it not for the difference in appearance between Mantle’s name in the collar compared to other game used jerseys inspected from this period, would easily sell for several hundred thousand dollars. As a matter of fact, two Mickey Mantle game worn road jerseys from the late 1960’s have sold for more than $350,000.00. Here is a chance to acquire a fine Mickey Mantle jersey from his last major league season after playing 18 years with the Yankees. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
