1940 Jacob Ruppert Memorial Dedication Photo Hung in Yankee Stadium (20 X 16)

This is an incredible large format original photograph that once hung in the “old” Yankee Stadium before its modern renovation in 1975. The 20 X 16 original black and white photograph pictures the dedication of Jacob Ruppert’s memorial plaque at Yankee Stadium in 1940. Signed with the photographers credit in the lower right corner, “Cosmo-Sile,” the photograph pictures seven individuals attending this dedication on April 19, 1940 at the Yankees home opener against the Washington Senators, including Yankees Manager Joe McCarthy, NYC Mayor Fiorella LaGuardia, and Washington Senators Manager Bucky Harris. The large bronze plaque which pictures Ruppert reads, “To The Memory of Jacob Ruppert, 1867-1939, Gentleman-American-Sportsman, Through whose vision and Courage this imposing edifice, destined to become the Home of Champions, was erected and dedicated to the American game of baseball.” Ruppert purchased the Yankees in 1915 and during his twenty-five-year tenure the club won eleven pennants and eight World Championships. This is a wonderful artifact from the offices of Yankee Stadium that recognizes the history of baseball’s Greatest franchise. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
