1860's Original Civil War Cavalry Officer's Sword

This is an incredible Officer’s Sword surviving from the Civil War. The formidable weapon made of bone piercing steel measures 42.625 inches in total length consisting of a 34.875 inch beautiful bright blade, wonderful brass-gilded guard, leather cover with twisted wire and is accompanied by its’ original scabbard. Original markings on either side of the blade near the hilt identify the sword; one side is stamped by the maker mark, “C ROBY-W CHELMSFORD-MASS,” and on the other side, “U.S. 1865 AGM,” (Inspector mark). As “C ROBY” were known for their higher quality swords, this sword was likely a custom made sword for a higher staff or field officer. The sword remains in excellent condition having survived from the battlefield from this tumultuous war waged between the states from 1861 to 1865. Fought during the Presidency of Abraham Lincoln; the Civil War ended with the defeat of the Confederacy and the abolishment of slavery. Original Civil War artifacts, particularly weapons such as this are highly prized by collectors. Comes with a certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
